Property
We’re a redesigned and renovated 63-room Highlands, NC hotel. We’re located on a serene 4.5 acres that includes Highlands Supper Club, a restaurant housed in a historic Joe Webb log cabin. Our property feels tucked away while the town is still within walking distance.
Yes. Our restaurant Highlands Supper Club is on-property. It is tucked away behind the hotel in a historic Joe Webb log cabin and serves impeccably prepared Southern fare.
No. We do not have a pool. However, we do have a ‘Nordic Spa’ outdoor sauna. Also, if you are looking for a place to cool off, ask us at the front desk and we can point you to local swim holes and waterfalls.
Our hotel is within walking distance to downtown Highlands which offers numerous shopping and dining experiences.
If you are able, we of course recommend that you experience the hikes, waterfalls, and natural beauty of the area. We also offer a variety of experiences both on-site at the hotel and off-site with local partners. You can find our team’s local recommendations on our website where you’ll find our Field Guide. Hotel Policies
We require a 48-hour notice for cancellations i.e. 2 days before you check-in by 3:59 PM. Otherwise, we charge for a 1-night room + tax. For any further questions, contact us directly at highlands-reservations@trailborn.com.
Yes! We love kids and families. 😀
Yes! Pets are permitted in our Patio guest rooms for a fee. Due to limited availability, be sure to let us know when you make a reservation if you plan on bringing your furry friend by giving us a call or contacting us at highlands-reservations@trailborn.com.
Yes. There is a $35/day pet fee. There is also a 40lb weight restriction and a limit of two pets per room.
You can have no more than two dogs under 40 lbs in your room. For specific questions pertaining to your specific dog, please reach out to us directly at highlands-reservations@trailborn.com.

No. Unfortunately, we do not allow cats at Trailborn Highlands.
No. You are responsible for providing your dog with food, and ensuring that they are walked/exercised. Please remember to clean up after your pups and keep them leashed!
We will have food and a water bowl for your room.
There is also a pet shop just a short walk away if there is anything else you need during your stay.

Rooms
You will receive a Guide to Your Stay during check-in, which will inform your stay at the property. It includes everything from a property map, how to access WiFi, how to use the in-room amenities, restaurant hours, where to book experiences and much more.

Base amenities, such as in-room Huck coffee, Grown Alchemist bath products, and cooler bags are present in every room. The rooms differ in bed type, number of beds, and overall size. Some rooms have balconies, others walk out into our back garden.

We have 16 guest rooms with a fireplace. The fireplaces are gas and available for guests to turn on and enjoy. Fireplace rooms can not be guaranteed and must be requested.

Unfortunately, we do not offer rollaway beds or cribs at this time.
All of our rooms are equipped with STAYCAST by SONIFI Solutions, which allows you to cast content directly from your personal device to the in-room TV. With access to over 2,000 apps—including Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, and more—you can stream your favorite shows and movies just like you do at home.
Rooms with standard king beds can accommodate up to two guests, Rooms with two queen beds can accommodate up to four guests. Suite rooms vary.

Our restaurant Highlands Supper Club is on-property. It is tucked away behind the hotel in a historic Joe Webb log cabin and serves impeccably prepared Southern fare.
The Market is our on-site grab-and-go store, with a variety of snacks and beverages and Trailborn branded merchandise. It’s located in the lobby of Trailborn Highlands.
At Trailborn Highlands, we aim to guide your adventure to provide you with the details and information to help create lasting memories of your Highlands, NC stay.
We invite all guests to join our Trailborn Highlands in our lobby lounge at 4pm for Trailborn Après HourTM. You’ll enjoy a complimentary beverage plus light refreshments.
Together, we’ll share our experiences and let you know about upcoming events and details to create lasting memories of your Trailborn Highlands stay. Then, join us at Highlands Supper Club to keep the good vibes going.
Weddings & Groups

Experiences
Yes! We have both on-site experiences at Trailborn Highlands, such as flower workshops, cocktail classes, and our ‘Nordic Spa’ outdoor sauna. We’ve curated seasonal off-site experiences with local partners, such as hiking, rock climbing, and forest bathing. To see the full list of experiences available click here.

Yes, each of our experiences has different advanced booking rules (never more than 3 days). Experiences can be booked in advance from our Experiences Page. If there is an experience you would really like to participate in at the last minute, please speak to our onsite team and they will do their best to arrange.
At this time off-site experiences are for guests only. Onsite programs are for guests only unless otherwise noted. Events at our restaurant are always open to the public.
All offsite experiences leave from the Trailborn Highlands lobby unless otherwise noted that specified transportation is provided.
Our experiences are open to all guests, however, you may book all spots in an experience or be the only group to book an experience.
Location
The easiest, and closest entrance to the Blue Ridge Parkway is in Balsam, about 26 miles from Highlands.

However, traveling a bit further to Bryson City, about 50 miles, will give you access to can’t miss attractions like the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad, Nantahala Outdoor for whitewater rafting, and more.
Smoky Mountains National Park does not charge an entrance fee or require reservations. Visit: https://www.nps.gov/grsm/planyourvisit to plan your visit and learn about fees for parking and other important information.
