What is Trailborn Surf & Sound?

We’re a redesigned and renovated 151-room Wrightsville Beach, NC hotel. As one of the only properties on the East Coast with direct access to both surf and sound, we offer curated activities both on and off the water, a stunning new lobby, and exciting dining options. Enjoy Italian cuisine at La Duna Paradiso, unwind at Bar Duna, or relax by the pool. Amenities include a rejuvenating fitness center with Peloton bikes, a relaxing hot tub and sauna, a vibrant pool area, and a captivating great lawn with fire pits.

Do you have a restaurant on property?

Yes, we have three!

La Duna Paradiso offers Italian and Mediterranean-inspired fare with a focus on seafood and fresh pasta.

Bar Duna is the hotel’s new lobby bar which serves coffee and pastries in the morning and and creative cocktails and bites by night.

Blockade Surf Bar is our seasonal pool bar, the perfect spot to grab more casual fare and a cold drink.

Do you have a pool? When is it open?

Yes, we have an outdoor pool, private Cabanas and the Blockade Surf Bar.

Our Pool, Hot Tub, and Sauna are open from 8am-10pm daily unless noted otherwise on-property.

Are you close to the beach? Do you have beach chairs?

Yes, in fact, we couldn’t be closer! Once you walk through the lobby and head past the pool there is a boardwalk that leads right to the beach.

We have a limited number of complimentary beach chairs and umbrellas set up daily by 8:30am.

Bringing personal beach chairs and umbrellas is welcomed.

What is the Market? When is it open?

The Market is our on-site grab-and-go store, with a variety of snacks and beverages and Trailborn branded merchandise. It’s located in the lobby of Trailborn Surf & Sound.

Our Market is open 24/7! Stop by anytime!

Are you a smoke-free property?

Yes, we are a smoke-free property. Smoking is only allowed at one designated area near the entrance to the resort.

Are you within walking distance to shops and restaurants?

Our hotel is within walking distance to downtown Wrightsville Beach which offers numerous shopping and dining experiences. We are also only a 15-minute drive from historic downtown Wilmington.

Hotel Policies

What is your destination amenity fee (DAF) and what does it include?

Our Destination Amenity Fee (listed as DAF on your folio) is $37.99/day and includes the following:

• Daily $25 F&B Credit
• Daily Parking, valet or self-parked
• Hourly Bike Rental for 2 (needs to be booked in advance)

What’s your cancellation policy?

If canceling within 48 hours of 4 pm on the day of arrival, your one-night deposit will be forfeited. When booking advance purchases or e-special rates, the full deposit would be forfeited if the reservation is canceled. Cancellation policies are subject to change depending on the specific rate or package booked.

Is your hotel pet-friendly?

No. While we love pets, Trailborn Surf & Sound is not pet-friendly. Dogs are not allowed on the beach on Wrightsville Beach from April – October each year, which played a large part in our decision to not allow pets at Trailborn Surf & Sound.

Please note that there is a $500 deep cleaning fee if pets are brought into the room. Please reach out to our Reservations team at surfandsound-reservations@trailborn.com if you have a licensed service animal. 

Are you kid/family friendly?

Yes! We love kids and families. 😀

Does Trailborn have gift cards?

Yes! You can share the Trailborn experience with your loved ones. Our gift cards are redeemable for hotel stays and dining at our restaurants–perfect for every traveler and tastemaker on your list.

Rooms

What is included in each room?

You will receive a Guide to Your Stay during check-in, which will inform your stay at the property. It includes everything from a property map, how to access WiFi, how to use the in-room amenities, restaurant hours, where to book experiences and much more.

In all of our guest rooms, you will find:
– Grown Alchemist shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and hand soap
– Huckleberry Roasters instant coffee with a Fellow electric kettle and Trailborn mugs
– Beach bags and beach towels to borrow during your stay or purchase after at the Market
– A Tivoli Bluetooth speaker
– Parachute Robes

What's the difference between room types?

Base amenities, such as in-room Huck coffee, Grown Alchemist bath products, and beach bags are present in every room. The rooms differ in bed type, number of beds, and overall size. Some rooms have balconies, others have small Juliette Balconies. All of our rooms have views of either the Atlantic Ocean or the Sound. Please reach out if you have specific questions regarding your reservation and room type.

What's a Juliette Balcony?

A Juliette balcony is a small, decorative balcony that doesn’t project far from the building. Our Juliette balconies are primarily aesthetic as they do not have a walkable feature, though they do have a railing in front of floor-to-ceiling windows that let in the sea breeze.

Do you have rollaway beds or cribs?

We have a limited number of Rollaways and Pack n Plays available on request. If you know that you need one, please let us know prior to your arrival so we can set them up in your room. Please note, that due to the limited availability, only one can be provided per room, and we cannot guarantee availability if you do not request in advance.

How can I get ice?

The Front Desk is happy to assist you in getting ice delivered to your room. To minimize noise levels in our hallways, we do not have ice machines on any of the floors. Please call or visit the front desk or restaurant and they will gladly help.

Do you offer streaming services?

All of our rooms are equipped with STAYCAST by SONIFI Solutions, which allows you to cast content directly from your personal device to the in-room TV. With access to over 2,000 apps—including Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, and more—you can stream your favorite shows and movies just like you do at home.

How many people can you fit in a room?

Rooms with standard king beds can accommodate up to two guests, Rooms with two queen beds can accommodate up to four guests. Suite rooms vary. Please contact us with any further questions.

La Duna Paradiso and Bar Duna are easily accessible through the resort lobby. La Duna Paradiso offers both indoor and outdoor seating.

What type of food is served at La Duna Paradiso?

La Duna Paradiso offers Italian and Mediterranean-inspired fare, focusing on seafood and fresh pasta. The restaurant’s beverage program reflects the cuisine’s heritage, offering a variety of Old World wines and aperitifs.

Can I get room service?

Yes! Room service is available daily. You will find a room service menu in your room upon arrival.

Is breakfast included?

Breakfast is not included in your nightly rate at Trailborn Surf & Sound unless mentioned in a package booked at the time of reservation.

How can I get ice to my room?

Is alcohol allowed on Wrightsville Beach?

No, alcoholic beverages are not allowed on Wrightsville Beach. We ask our guests to not bring their beverages down to the beach.

What is Trailborn Après HourTM?

At Trailborn Surf & Sound, we aim to guide your adventure to provide you with the details and information to help create lasting memories of your Wrightsville Beach stay.
We invite all guests to join the Trailborn Surf & Sound team at our lobby bar, Bar Duna, every evening at 4pm for Trailborn Après HourTM. You’ll enjoy a complimentary mocktail plus light refreshments.
Together, we’ll share our experiences and let you know about upcoming events and details to create lasting memories of your Trailborn Surf & Sound stay. Then, join us at La Duna Paradiso to keep the good vibes going.

What experiences do you offer during my stay?

We have both on-site experiences at Trailborn Surf & Sound, such as boat cruises, surf lessons, kids activities, wellness and culinary classes, and more. We’ve curated seasonal off-site experiences with local partners, such as surf camps and adventure cruises.

How do I book experiences?

Do I need to book my experiences in advance?

Yes, each of our experiences has different advanced booking rules. If there is an experience you would really like to participate in at the last minute, please speak to our onsite team and they will do their best to arrange.

Are experiences open to non-guests?

At this time experiences are for guests only.

Where do off-site experiences leave from? Is transportation provided?

All off-site experiences leave from the Trailborn Surf & Sound lobby unless otherwise noted. Some activities like kayaking and boat cruises will leave from our Soundside which is across the street from the resort. Unless specified transportation is provided.

Will there be other guests or are these private experiences?

Our experiences are open to all guests, however, you may book all spots in an experience or be the only group to book an experience.

Do you have any recommendations for activities or restaurants in Wrightsville Beach?

Wrightsville Beach is an island known for its crystal blue waters, perfect for swimming, boating, fishing, and of course, surfing. We also offer a variety of experiences both on-site at the hotel and off-site with local partners. You can find our team’s local recommendations on our website where you’ll find our Field Guide. Do you host weddings on your property?

Yes. We can accommodate you and your loved ones for everything from ceremonies to welcome receptions, and rehearsal dinners to farewell events. Don’t hesitate to get in touch with our events team by filling out our inquiry form on our Weddings Page.

I'm getting married in Wrightsville Beach/Wilmington, can my guests book at your hotel?

Do you have meeting space?
